About the CD:
I would like to share with you the definition of the
title of this cd ‘’ Jubilee Stomp:
Ju.bi.lee 1. A season or an occasion of joyful celebration; 2.
Jubilation; rejoicing. Stomp 1. A dance involving a rhythmical, heavy
step; 2. The jazz music for this dance.
I had the pleasure to listen to the latest CD of
this very famous and talented band. Jennifer has a really good and
beautiful voice with full power. There are also many good musicians on
this CD. Garry and Joe are really good guitarists. I enjoy so much
these solo performance of harmonica, piano, trumpet, and sax on
different tracks. I like the CD cover style, the front side is very
modern with vivid colours while the back is old school style. The
combination of both is very interesting. The CD lasts 1 hr: 02 min: 03
sec divided on fourteen blues songs.
It’s impossible to be unmoved by this music:
ballads with full emotion and many good triple swing songs plus rock &
roll.If you like the blues, you have to buy this excellent CD. You will never
regret it. I am telling you: "It’s really worth the price".It is not easy to choose what my favorite tunes on this CD are because
all songs are good. My favorites are: Dirty Landry; it is a real good
funky song. Walkin’ blues; excellent song with good beat. Jennifer's
voice is amazing. The harmonica and guitar are really good. Asbury
Nights and Queens; it is a good triple swing and very pleasant to listen
to. Dwight Ritcher is a great pianist, and he gives a good performance
in this song. Congratulations Jennifer for this amazing interpretation
of this excellent ballad. I had shivers on my skin when I listened to
I’d Rather Go Blind. Kudos to Steve Meyers and his excellent tenor sax.
Track 6: Feel So Good; I feel like dancing to this excellent rocker.
Track 8: I am a Woman; you are not just a woman you are a real good
blues woman with lots of energy. Track 9: yes I had some fun to listen
to your CD.
Track 10: the guitar sound and the beat are very special. Track 11:
Great Rock & Roll. Where are my dancing shoes? He! He! He!
Track 12: the solo from guitar and Hammond B3 Organ is excellent and
certainly is Jennifer’s voice. The final song Jubilee Stomp is a good
Quick Step, I like this dance.
Congratulations Gary & Jennifer, you did a real good job on this album.
If you have a chance send your CD to the Montreal International Jazz
Festival and I will be there at the blues stage to see you at
show.
