Hi Everybody!

This week I would like to present you Kimmy Kearse. The first time I heard about her, I was sitting at my desk listening to the radio station WVOF 88.5 FM. As there are often good interviews with excellent independent artists, I was listening with great interest. Suddenly, I hear Joe Kelley introducing his guest named Kimmy Kearse. Some moments after, he presented us a few good songs off her new CD, " I Give You Me". The titles were: Mixed Up, I Give You Me, Let Me Go. When I heard her voice, I immediately said to myself: "Wow what a beautiful voice she has."  I decided to send them some instants messages to tell them that I liked very much the voice of Kimmy. And, at that moment, I realized that Kimmy seemed to be a really, nice person. After this performance on The Upper Room with Joe Kelley, I fell in love with Kimmy’s voice and I decided to make a review of her CD. .

"I Give You Me"

Kimmy, born in Pennsylvania, the oldest child of four children, she was three years old when she first picked up a microphone... trying to sing James Brown "Say It Loud". At the age of 10 yrs. she was the lead singer for her family group "Kearse" which consisted of her baby sister Karmentrina Schevelle and two brothers; Kevin Scott and Keenan Wynn Kearse. They placed in many talent shows in the DC Metropolitan Area, to include but not limited to The District of Columbia Metropolitan Talent Show Case and the Maryland Metropolitan Talent Show Case.  They sang together for 7 years.

She is the lead vocalist for the female group "Kimmy & Klasse", based in Upper Marlboro, MD.Kimmy grew up with music influences from Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle and the Blue Bells, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Natalie Cole, Stephanie Mills, Anita Baker, Earth Wind and Fire, The Staple Singers, The Isley Brothers, Dianna Ross, The Supremes and the Jackson Five. She attended Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri for three years as music major. She is the writer / arranger for all of the selections on the new solo CD “I Give You Me" by Kimmy Kearse 2005.

Now, let's talk about her new solo project. Her new album is a mixture of Jazz, R&B and Pop!   A little different from what she has been doing for the past 10 years.  There are 10 selections, all written and arranged by her. She wrote one especially for her mother, "Be like you" because her mom is her manager, and Kimmy says: ’’ I think all managers’ mom should hear this song’’.   She always has been in my corner.  She is my inspiration and with God and my Mother on my side, I can accomplish anything!  Wow what can you expect more as compliment from a girl to her mother? Yes in this song, we can feel all the love for a mother. All mothers would appreciate to receive the love you feel in this song. I really like the words used.

About the CD:
The CD and its sleeve are very well presented, you can see a beautiful picture of her and we can feel she wants to tell us” I Give You Me”. The CD is divided on 10 tracks. This album contains great romantic ballads, like the song “I Give You Me”. It is a love song, and when she says in the middle of this tune ” I give my love to you, darling you are my everything”, the way she interprets this song makes me shudder just to listen to the performance of her voice. Kimmy sings a few more good ballads like: » Thinking About Love, Let Me Go, Wishes, which remind me a bit of music cabaret style.  The tune “MIXED UP” is another great song with funky rhythms. On the track “One for Me” the trumpet solo is really cool.. And the album finishes with “Full Time Lover” which contains a good samba beat. Kimmy's voice shines on " I Give You Me". She is truly one of the top soul vocalists that have arrived in the music business. My only aspect that I would have loved to see improved would be some of the production quality on "I Give You Me".
