Hi Everybody! Do you know Big Brooklyn Red?
He is a Brooklyn native whose career was launched in
1990 performing an original composition with Herbie Hancock and Branford
Marsalis at the St. James Theatre on Broadway. In 1994 he started his first band
"eli & the bluesound project". He moved to Miami in 1997 and made his mark as
the premiere soul singer in South Florida. Big Brooklyn Red sang the National
Anthem for NBA season 2001/2002 for the Miami Heat . He has toured the U.S.,
changed his base of operations from NY to Miami to LA and back. Brooklyn Red
completed a tour of the U.K. in support of Organic Soul v. 3, a compilation that
includes three tracks from Big Brooklyn Red's album, "Foreword". He now splits
time between NYC and Miami and records tirelessly for his next release. I saw
the live performance at the APOLLO Champion VICTORY VIEWING PARTY: MIAMI Feb.

He gave us a real good performance. Brooklyn Red has a
great and powerful voice. He is a complete singer/songwriter with an
unbelievable talent for improvisation. Brooklyn likes to share that with his
audience. I will always remember the first time I saw and heard him. It was on
"Upper Room with Joe Kelley" on WVOF 88.5FM www.upperroomwithjoekelley.com.
I watched the show with my web cam on Windows Media Player. It was a live show
and he asked if there was a listener who would like to send him a sentence on
which he would improvise. I sent him my suggestion on the instant message.
Believe it or not, he started immediately to improvise with my phrase and he was
really good. I realy liked it. Congratulations, because it is not easy to do
that! Brooklyn Red’s concert are full of improvisational moments. He has
recorded for a long list NY/Miami/LA artist of many genres including Hip-Hop,
spoken word, alternative rock, jungle/drum and bass as well as doing drops for
local DJ Mix CDs.

About the CD:
My favourite tunes are: Track # 1, 2, 6, 8.
It is a real good relaxing CD with great sound quality
and many ballads and romantic songs. He has a warm and nice voice. He starts in
force with two good songs "Time" and "Put Wings on Me". I like the first track
for the surrounding effects, and both for its smooth melody and great bass line.
I enjoy the performance of "The professor" Josh Hartman on organ and other keys
.On track 5, you can hear the beautiful voice of Antonia Jenaé. She is very
talented. Tune #6, it is another beautiful romantic song, excellent for romance
with dim candles and you are ready to make your fantasy come true with the one
you love. And what can I say about this very special, original song " GOD IS
GOOD". According to me, yes God Is Good but this tune is excellent. I had the
feeling that my brain was floating in the cosmos in outerspace because of the
many sound effects. I felt an inner peace when he sang Hallelujah during this
song. There are great musicians on this excellent CD, and it was a real pleasure
to listen to it. Please check out Brooklyn Red’s "Foreword" and you’ll see for
yourself!
